Nautical Porthole Mirrors for Sale in the UK

Explore current UK listings for nautical porthole mirrors, from new brass-finish wall décor to used convex mirrors in brass, copper and chrome. Prices in these examples range from about £26.70 to £99, with size, finish and condition affecting comparisons. Check the stated diameter, whether the mirror is flat or convex, and whether the frame is solid metal or a plated finish. For vintage pieces, inspect photographs and descriptions for dents, tarnish, corrosion, repairs, replaced glass and secure wall fittings before buying.

What to Look For

Check the mirror’s diameter and depth carefully, as porthole sizes vary and a deep frame can project noticeably from the wall. Confirm whether the piece is intended as a decorative reproduction or is being described as vintage, and look for clear photographs of the reverse, fixings, hinge and catch. On brass or copper examples, inspect for dents, splits, uneven plating, verdigris and extensive polishing; a bright finish may not be original. Convex glass should be checked for chips, scratches, fogging and distortion. Ask about replacement glass, repairs, missing screws and whether the mirror can be securely mounted. For pairs, confirm that both pieces match and are complete.

Buying Tips

Before buying, compare like with like: measurements may describe the frame, glass or overall projection, and a pair should be checked for matching dimensions and fittings. Study photographs for dents, pitting, tarnish, loose hinges, worn plating, chipped or replaced mirrors and signs of repainting. Read whether the item is new, vintage or simply made in an antique finish. Confirm hanging hardware, packaging, delivery charges and UK returns terms, especially for heavier brass or convex-glass mirrors.
